Extractions are one of the most common treatments at Texas Dental Center — our team performs thousands of them every year. If a tooth is badly broken, infected, loose or causing severe pain, we can usually examine it, take an X-ray and remove it the same day. We are on Bissonnet St in Southwest Houston, open Monday to Friday 8 AM – 6 PM and Saturdays 8 AM – 3 PM. When a tooth may need to come out: Severe toothache from deep decay that can no longer be repaired; A cracked or broken tooth that has split below the gumline; Dental abscess or infection with swelling; Loose teeth from advanced gum disease; Impacted or painful wisdom teeth; Teeth being removed before dentures or dental implants; Crowding, when recommended as part of orthodontic treatment; Baby teeth that will not fall out on their own. Losing a tooth can let neighboring teeth drift and the jawbone shrink over time. Because we also make dentures and place dental implants in the same office, we can plan your replacement before the extraction — including dentures delivered the day teeth are removed when that option fits your case.
Usually yes. Texas Dental Center offers same-day extraction visits Monday to Saturday. After an exam and X-ray, if the tooth cannot be saved and it is safe to proceed, it can often be removed at the same visit. Call (832) 831-9101 to check today's openings.
Yes. We are open Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and see extraction and emergency patients that day. We are closed on Sunday.
The area is fully numbed before we begin, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Some soreness for a few days afterward is normal and is usually managed with the medication your dentist recommends.
The cost depends on whether the extraction is simple or surgical, how many teeth are involved and your insurance. Your dentist gives you a written estimate after the exam and X-ray, before any treatment starts. Financing options are available — see our insurance and financing page.
Most people feel much better within two to three days after a simple extraction. The gum usually closes over in one to two weeks, and the bone continues to heal for several months.
Yes. We perform full-mouth extractions and make dentures in the same office. Your dentist will explain whether immediate dentures or a later denture is right for you, and whether implants could help keep the denture secure.
Yes. Patients without dental insurance are welcome. You receive the cost before treatment, and payment and financing options are explained at your visit.
