Your exact fee is set in a written treatment plan, and treatment is at the dentist's professional discretion. Pricing terms

What the extraction fee includes

  • Local anesthesia (numbing) for the area being treated
  • The extraction itself, with stitches when needed
  • Gauze, written aftercare instructions and a follow-up call
  • A check of the socket before you leave

What moves the price up or down

  • Whether the tooth is fully visible, broken at the gumline or impacted
  • Root shape — long, curved or fused roots take more time
  • Infection or swelling that needs to be treated first
  • Whether you want a bone graft to keep the option of an implant
  • Sedation: local only, or IV sedation billed by time

Extraction cost FAQ

Questions about extraction prices

Straight answers about what extractions, grafts and sedation cost at our Southwest Houston office.
How much does a tooth extraction cost at Texas Dental Center?
A simple extraction starts at $300 per tooth and a surgical extraction at $480 per tooth. Impacted wisdom teeth start at $411 per tooth. Local anesthesia is included. If you come in for an emergency, the exam and X-ray are $75–$150. Your exact fee is confirmed in writing after the exam.
How much does IV sedation cost for an extraction?
IV sedation is $1,000 for the first hour and $250 for each additional 15 minutes, billed by the actual time. Most extraction visits take 1 to 2 hours in total, so sedation usually comes to $1,000–$2,000.
Do I need a bone graft after my tooth is removed?
Not always. A bone graft (socket preservation) is recommended when you plan a dental implant later, because the jawbone shrinks after an extraction. Grafts start at $250 per tooth, and we will tell you at the exam whether one makes sense for you.
Does dental insurance cover extractions?
Most PPO plans cover part of an extraction after the deductible — often 50–80%. IV sedation and bone grafts are frequently limited or excluded. We verify your benefits before treatment and file the claim for you. Texas Medicaid and CHIP dental coverage applies to eligible children.
Can my tooth be removed the same day?
Often, yes. We see emergencies Monday–Friday 8 AM–6 PM and Saturday 8 AM–3 PM. After an X-ray, many extractions can be done at the same visit when it is clinically safe.
Is the online estimate a quote?
No. It uses our starting fees to give you a realistic planning range. The final fee depends on what the X-ray shows and is always confirmed in writing before treatment.
Where is my saved estimate stored?
Only in your browser. Saved estimates and your name are encrypted on your device. Nothing is sent to us unless you submit the booking form, and you can delete your saved data at any time.
