Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most patients adjust to new dentures within 2–4 weeks. During the first few days, mild soreness, increased saliva, and slight speech changes are normal as your mouth adapts. We schedule follow-up adjustment visits to fine-tune fit and bite, ensuring your dentures feel natural and stable for everyday eating and speaking.

How much do dentures cost in Houston?

Planning estimates at Texas Dental Center are per arch: lab-made temporary/healing complete dentures typically $1,200–$2,200, final zirconia complete $2,500–$4,500, and partials $1,000–$2,800. Use the denture cost estimator on this site for a starting range. Written fees follow your exam. We accept most PPO plans and offer CareCredit financing.

What's the difference between a partial denture and a full denture?

A full denture replaces all teeth on the upper or lower arch and rests on the gums. A partial denture fills in gaps between your remaining natural teeth, clasping onto them for stability. Partials help preserve your natural teeth and prevent shifting, while full dentures restore an entire smile.

Can I sleep with my dentures in?

We recommend removing dentures at night so your gums and jawbone can rest and breathe. Soaking them in a denture cleansing solution overnight helps prevent bacterial buildup, staining, and warping. This nightly routine extends the life of your prosthetic and protects long-term oral health.

Are implant-retained dentures better than traditional dentures?

Implant-retained (snap-on) dentures provide significantly more stability than traditional suction-based dentures, eliminate denture adhesive, and help preserve jawbone over time. They cost more upfront but improve chewing power, speech clarity, and confidence. During your consultation we'll discuss whether you're a candidate based on bone volume.

How often do dentures need to be replaced?

Most dentures last 5–7 years before needing replacement or relining due to natural changes in your jawbone shape. Annual exams help us catch fit issues early. A reline can extend the life of your existing denture, while a full replacement restores optimal aesthetics and function as bone changes occur.

Can I get same-day dentures in Houston?

Yes. When teeth need to come out, we can place an immediate (same-day) denture the same visit so you never leave without teeth. It is worn while the gums heal, then relined or replaced with your final denture in about 3–6 months.

Does dental insurance cover dentures?

Most PPO plans cover roughly 50% of a denture up to your annual maximum, usually after a waiting period. We verify your benefits before treatment and offer $0-down monthly financing for the remaining balance.
